Dental Veneers

What are veneers?

Dental veneers or dental laminates are wafer-thin custom designed by a dentist to fit the front surfaces of your teeth. These can be of two types based on the material used – resin veneers or porcelain veneers.

Resin veneers are a light-cured composite resin that are directly applied to the tooth surfaces to get desired aesthetic appeal. Porcelain veneers/ceramic dental veneers are wafer-thin custom-made shells bonded’ to your tooth surface by the dentist.

Designing your smile

Happy patient with dentist

Meticulous planning is a hallmark of dental veneer design. You explain your plans of getting a new perfect smile to your dentist. He will carefully incorporate the incarnate details in a digital plan. A temporary veneer will be curated for you to understand your new smile better.

Diagnosis and treatment planning

A thorough study is mandatory to assess if you are the right candidate for dental veneers.

Your dentist might take a few photographs, sometimesĀ x-rays to study your smile. This is to carefully plan your desired smile.

An interactive discussion is an important factor here!

Make sure you put your requirements across the doctor, as he should be clearly aware of your personal wants for your smile. There are certain limitations that you need to understand.

The planning for the treatment is done with the help of “DTS / DSD -software”. ( a simulator software used by the specialists to DIGITALLY plan the smile as close as you desire.)

Final

After the digital planning of the teeth, there is a mock-up trial in your mouth which allows you to see the change three-dimensionally. This helps the Dentist and the patient visualize what can and will be achieved in terms of shape and esthetics.

The Procedure

The dentist will shape your tooth in a way to receive a veneer without any ledge between your natural tooth and the veneer. He will start by creating the impressions digitally and share it with you. After he receives your approval on the same, he will go on to create mock-up veneers to fit in your mouth. He will bond the veneers to the front surfaces of your teeth after achieving satisfactory results.

To keep the shine of your teeth after the resin veneers process, you will be advised for a ‘polishing’ visit.
