The Dental Bond – Pioneering Digital Dentistry in Mumbai for Precision and Excellence

Digital dentistry began in 1971, when Francois Duret, a French academic, created Dental CAD/CAM. Digital dentistry is the use of modern technology and gadgets that include digital or computer-controlled components to perform dental treatments rather than mechanical tools. This optimises the delivery of dental care and treatment by increasing precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes using current technologies and procedures.

At The Dental Bond, we have implemented a comprehensive digital workflow in our office, and each member of our team of experts has received rigorous training to grasp the most up-to-date digital tools and technologies available in the field of dentistry. We employ this technology for consultations, evaluations, patient education, and diagnostic imaging, as well as treatment operations such as root canals, decay treatments, teeth whitening, tooth alignment, smile makeovers, crowns, bridges, and veneers.

Digital Imaging & Photography

At The Dental Bond, we take high-resolution photos of our patients' teeth, gums, and soft tissues to help them see and comprehend the problem and treatment choices more clearly.Dental photography technology seeks to record clinical presentations with the utmost accuracy of colour rendition and white balance, which makes a big difference in planning treatment for our patients.

Our dentists use high-resolution photos to evaluate patient development and document operations. This helps analyse follow-up sessions more accurately.

Digital Radiology with Digital Radiovisiography

Our digital imaging equipment provides great image clarity and resolution, which can be viewed quickly on a computer display. It also minimises radiation exposure for patients by 50-90% when compared to earlier X-ray systems. Digital RVG is immediate, which assists in efficient diagnosis, enhancing treatment accuracy, and reducing procedural delays. It also lets the patient to view the interior clinical results in detail. At The Dental Bond, we employ a US FDA-approved hand-held X-ray machine that verifies all radiation safety procedures, preventing any radiation-related health dangers for our patients and staff.

CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) - 3D Imaging

A cone-shaped X-ray beam is used by CBCT machines to acquire detailed pictures of teeth, jaws, soft tissues, nerve routes, and jaw bones in a single scan. CBCT has been referred to as the 'gold standard' for imaging the oral and maxillofacial regions since it produces 600 unique pictures in a single shot with low radiation exposure. At The Dental Bond, we have this technology in-house to provide convenience to our patients. It is extremely useful for many difficult operations and has applications in practically every area of dentistry.

Intraoral Digital Scanners

Our clinic provides intraoral scanners (IOS) like PrimeScan - Dentsply Sirona and iTero- Align Technology, USA, which are sophisticated digital tools for creating exceptionally accurate 3D images of a patient's teeth and gums. These mobile devices eliminate the need for traditional impressions, providing patients with a speedier and more comfortable experience. They are often used in surgeries including dental crowns, bridges, veneers, orthodontics, and implants. Intraoral scanners improve treatment accuracy and workflow efficiency by seamlessly integrating with CAD/CAM systems and 3D printers. They help our doctors improve patient communication by graphically demonstrating treatment plans in real time. Intraoral scanners, with their precision and ease of use, have become a standard in modern digital dentistry, producing impressive outcomes.

Frequently asked questions
What is digital dentistry?

Digital dentistry refers to the use of advanced technology and computer systems to improve the efficiency, precision, and outcomes of dental treatments. At The Dental Bond, we use digital tools such as 3D imaging, digital impressions, and CAD/CAM technology to enhance the quality of care and reduce treatment time.

How does digital dentistry improve my dental care?

Digital dentistry allows for more accurate diagnostics, faster treatment planning, and precise procedures. For example, digital impressions eliminate the need for messy, uncomfortable molds, and 3D imaging allows us to plan treatments with greater accuracy. This leads to improved outcomes and a more comfortable experience for you.

What are digital impressions, and are they better than traditional impressions?

Digital impressions are a modern alternative to traditional molds. Using a small, handheld scanner, we can capture highly accurate, 3D images of your teeth and gums. Unlike traditional impressions, digital impressions are quick, comfortable, and don't require any messy materials. They also provide a more precise fit for crowns, bridges, and other restorations.

What is 3D imaging, and how is it used in dentistry?

3D imaging uses advanced X-ray technology to create detailed, three-dimensional images of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. At The Dental Bond, we use 3D imaging to plan procedures such as dental implants, root canals, and orthodontic treatments with precision, improving the accuracy and safety of your treatment.

Does digital dentistry reduce treatment time?

Yes! Digital tools allow us to streamline many aspects of treatment, from diagnostic imaging to creating restorations. For example, with CAD/CAM technology, we can design and fabricate crowns, bridges, and veneers in one visit, which significantly reduces the time needed for multiple appointments.

How accurate is digital dentistry?

Digital dentistry is highly accurate, thanks to advanced technology like 3D imaging and digital impressions. These technologies provide detailed, precise data, ensuring that restorations such as crowns, bridges, and dentures fit perfectly and function optimally. This leads to better outcomes and fewer adjustments.

Is digital dentistry safe?

Yes! Digital dentistry is safe and uses minimal radiation compared to traditional X-rays, especially with 3D imaging. The technology used at The Dental Bond is regularly tested for safety, and our dental team is trained to use it in a way that maximizes both effectiveness and patient comfort.

Can digital dentistry be used for all dental procedures?

While digital dentistry is a valuable tool for many dental procedures, it is particularly effective for restorative work like crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants. It’s also helpful for orthodontics and diagnostics. During your consultation, our specialists will discuss whether digital dentistry is appropriate for your specific treatment needs.

How does CAD/CAM technology work?

CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology is used to design and create dental restorations. After scanning your teeth, the system generates a 3D model of the restoration, which is then fabricated using advanced machines. This allows us to produce precise, high-quality crowns, bridges, and veneers in a single appointment.

Does digital dentistry cost more than traditional dentistry?

While digital dentistry may have a higher upfront cost due to the advanced technology, it often saves you money in the long run by reducing the need for multiple appointments, minimizing the chance for errors, and improving the longevity of treatmets. The Dental Bond offers flexible payment plans to help make digital treatments more affordable for all patients.
